Helpful Hints To Ensure a Better Trip

  • Find out what the Trailways® Service Company's polices are concerning food, drinks, gum, tobacco products, alcohol, radios, etc. Then go over these policies with your group prior to departure.
  • Never allow more than one person to stand at a time while the vehicle is moving. At each stop, the group leader must make sure that everyone is aboard and then inform the driver when the group is ready for departure.
  • The driver is not responsible for chaperoning, disciplining, or attending to any member of your group. The driver's job is safely operating the vehicle. If a driver needs help with directions or maps, they will ask. During the trip, you may need to speak with the driver while the vehicle is in operations. Be sure to stay behind the white line and try to wait until the driver is away from congestive traffic.
  • If you have VCR equipped transportation, make sure to bring videos that are acceptable entertainment for you group's age and that the material is not offensive to any religious or ethnic group. Alternatively, you may request (be sure to inquire about costs) from the Trailways® Service Company to provide a variety of videos for your group's trip.
  • Many Trailways® Service Companies will be happy to provide you with a quick cost estimate for a group charter over the phone. However, if you want a deluxe charter, it will take the company several days (48-72 hours) for them to make the necessary calls to hotels/motels, attractions, and restaurants.
  • Lastly, remember that even the newest transportation equipment may have problems. Be patient though — help will be on its way shortly. Using Service Companies that are a part of the Trailways® system helps to guarantee that another company within the system is nearby and ready to extend service to ensure that your group will soon be back on schedule and that your charter plans will not be interrupted. In the meantime, let the driver take care of the situation. Being abusive to the driver will not help correct problems any faster.
  • The system of Trailways® motorcoaches is comprised of a variety of manufactures and each coach is equipped differently, e.g.:
    • A Minicoach/Van seats 24 - 27 passengers; some are equipped with restrooms.
    • The most widely used is a standard deluxe motorcoach that seats 47 to 55 passengers; all are equipped with restrooms.
