Pennsylvania Bus Association Elects New Officers and Board Members

 John W Bailey President of Bailey Trailways with headquarters in York PA and Vice President of Travel Time with offices in Lancaster and York PA was elected Chairman of the Pennsylvania Bus Association at their annual meeting held in Gettysburg PA June 20-22, 2016.

Bailey who is 2nd generation in his family’s travel and transportation businesses can trace his roots back when his Uncle Glenn Bailey a teacher at York High School York PA organized a group of students that traveled via train from York PA to attend the 1933 World’s Fair in Chicago IL. Bailey’s travel companies specialize in Corporate travel management, group, incentive and personal travel arrangements along with a full range of personal and group motorcoach transportation with a fleet of 25 vehicles.  John’s daughter Courtney is 3rd general in the family’s travel business.

John was away from the motorcoach side from 1979-1995 until early one morning about 6:00 AM there was a knock on his door and there stood his future partner in the bus business, Rodney Sechrist.  Rodney stated to John that they needed to start their own bus business!! With no money business plan and no clients they bought 2 Vanhool’s from ABC Companies in Camden, NJ. This has led to employing 55 people on the wheel side and another 35 in the travel agency. John feels fortunate to have his daughter-in-law Ashley as the 2nd generation in the motorcoach side.

Bailey has served as a board member for many years, and Vice Chairman of the Pennsylvania Bus Association for the past 4 years. His past service includes: Past President Delaware Valley American of Travel Agents, Past President Hanover Rotary Club, Past President Lafayette Club, Past President United Cerebral Palsy of South Central PA, Past President Spring Grove Scholarship Foundation, Current member of the Board of directors York County Community Foundation.

The Pennsylvania Bus Association was founded in 1923 and represents the motorcoach industry with 52 motorcoach operator members, 325 travel industry related members, and 25 companies that service the motorcoach industry.  PBA works on behalf of the industry to increase business opportunities, monitors legislative and regulatory issues, and promotes motorcoach safety through education. The Association is committed to a Code of Ethics in which its members strive to offer the highest level of safety in their operations, quality in their services, and consumer protection for their customers.
