Trailways Vice President
Fairfax, VA-The Trailways Transportation System, Inc. (Trailways), has contracted industry veteran, Mark Szyperski, to help lead the corporation's continuing efforts in expanding its network of bus companies and helping to secure more business for Trailways through group moves, tours, and scheduled service opportunities, state and federal grants, brand building projects, training, and affiliated partnership development.
As Vice President of Business Management Solutions, Szyperski's talents will also be tapped to provide individual as well as onsite support to Trailways stockholders by helping them gain access to more of the corporation' affiliated brand services and programs, including business development, marketing, grant-writing, various training programs, including customer service and security training, and driver recruitment and training.
"During the past, we have offered these brand-related services from a variety of contractors, but under this new position, these services as well as others, will be directed by one contact person," stated Gale Ellsworth, President/CEO of North America's oldest independent group of privately owned motorcoach companies.
"Trailways has grown to over 80 bus companies world-wide; we felt it was time to take the next step in helping our stockholders maximize their business potential by using a personalized approach to business management and solution delivery," said Ellsworth.
Szyperski, a name familiar with Team Trailways, worked as an independent contractor for the corporate office a few years ago, has over 30 years of management experience in the motorcoach industry. Most recently, Szyperski was the Director of Business Development for Anchor Trailways of Nashville, Tennessee. During his employment, he successfully wrote and earned Anchor Trailways more than $4 million in grants from the Federal Government, while directing a marketing program that earned Anchor its first nationally noted marketing awards recognition.
Szyperski also implemented Anchor Trailways' new scheduled line run service in Tennessee in cooperation with the State of Tennessee Department of Transportation. This past February, Szyperski decided it was time to return to providing industry focused consulting.
He recently assisted International Trailways during the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
In her announcement, Ellsworth stated, "When we heard that Mr. Szyperski was returning to industry consultation, we looked at the requirements of this new position, which paralleled nicely with his background, talents, knowledge, history and familiarity with many of our Trailways companies," concluded Ellsworth.
Szyperski added, "I have been in the industry all of my life, having grown up with my father being a bus driver. Having the opportunity to assist Trailways stockholders-system-wide has long been a goal of mine; I am excited be a part of this great organization and provide service to the network, when, where and as needed."
As Vice President, Szyperski will base out of the Trailways Corporate Office; assist with other corporate duties, including budgeting, branding, and assist Trailways in becoming more visible, in- and outside of the industry.
