Amador Trailways of Sacramento, CA, launched its business history in 1852, as a stagecoach line, moving passengers from riverboats into the Sierra Nevada gold-mining country. Now the company is taking its Trailways-branded scheduled route and charter transportation expertise into the Greater Reno-Lake Tahoe area.
William R. Allen, Amador's president, said his company has been working on the expansion for several years. "We got authority to operate in the Reno-Tahoe area several years ago, but really didn't pursue the market with determination until we decided to buy land and build a multi-million dollar garage and office facility in the area," he said.
Amador Trailways' core business in its Nevada territory is charter service for inbound visitors, including sports and school groups. It also provides scheduled transportation runs between Reno/Tahoe International Airport and South Lake Tahoe. The company often uses its fleet of over 60 vehicles to service local meetings and conventions.
Allen said he knows Amador's long history of transportation service through many era is assured continuing business success with the Trailways brand behind it. "Trailways is a name people trust, so that gives us the marketing clout we need. We're also able to rest on the knowledge that we have an entire system for road assistance should we need it anywhere in the country."
Team Trailways is in its 80th decade of passenger service. Its 80 member-companies are located throughout North America, Germany, and The Netherlands, offers a variety of travel and transportation services. The network includes an array of over 3,000 late model transport vehicles, including full-sized, motorcoaches, mini and van transport, limos, and school buses.
