Trailways Board Elects Ron Moore As Chairman
Fairfax, VA
Moore is president and owner of Burlington Trailways, which is based out of West Burlington, Iowa. He succeeds William (Bill) C. Steele, who served three terms as Board Chair.
Broadening public awareness about Trailways’ stalwart commitment to safe and secure transportation services is one of Moore’s leadership priorities.
“We are transparent about our rigorous driver-training standards and our affiliation requirements in which all Trailways motorcoach companies must maintain the US Department of Defense (US DOD) safety-certification,” he said. “Our brand represents strong buyer safety and security assurances; and, as its chairman, I am committed to ensuring our network of independent motorcoach carriers’ products and services remain in the forefront as the consumer’s first choice for premier motorcoach transportation.”
Moore, who has served several terms on the Trailways Board, and is also a member of the American Bus Association (ABA) board, said he is honored to be elected to serve Trailways in this important role to serve an organization that represents decades of member-to-member camaraderie and the professional give-and-take that has made it an American business icon.
“Since its beginning in 1936, Trailways has been a network of family-owned and operated motorcoach companies who pull together to provide customers the best in both charter and scheduled route services. During my term as chair, we will continue that enviable tradition as we move toward our eighth decade of providing safe, secure, and reliable motorcoach and other related travel services.”
With a motorcoach industry background that began when his father entered the bus business in the early 1940s, Moore grew up in New Jersey, and began cleaning buses for his dad’s Trailways affiliated company when he was in high school. The family moved to Iowa in 1981 when they acquired a motorcoach company in the Cedar Rapids area. Today, Burlington Trailways is a full service transportation company that offers scheduled route runs, charters, and packaged retail tours.
Burlington Trailways employs a staff of more than 100 individuals and maintains a fleet of 25 full-sized motorcoaches.
